Get out the good china!

So for our wedding...one of the gifts we registered for was china. Not the $200 a place setting stuff....but more along the lines of 10 place settings for $200. I could care less in having the mega-rich stuff, I just wanted to have something to pass along to my daughter (funny...considering I always thought I'd have just boys!) and the fact my Mom is holding on to my grandma's beautiful, girly set until all eternity.

Any hoodle....Robb and I picked out the modern, yet timeless pattern from Mikasa.

It's called Parchment (for any of you ladies looking for something pratical and affordable). We got the whole set, plus some great additional pieces as gifts. I love it...problem was...we had no where to display or store it.

So for the last year and a half it's been in the original box in our basement. Until my stalking on craigslist.com scored me a beautiful little china cabinet. I promised myself I wasn't going to spend much...and I didn't...just $75! Sorry Mom Wilson...I know you are saving your dining room set for us when you can finally move back home...but I can easily move this into our kitchen...so don't fret!!

A little Murphy's Oil Soap and wal-la!

I was thinking of painting it, but on further investigation I don't think I will. I was talking to my grandma (not the previous owner of the china my Mom's holding hostage) and she told me about a great product. Now Grandma Ollie knows a thing or two about paint, stain, wallpaper, what shirt goes best with which pants...she's pretty spectacular! Instead of paint, she told me about "Rejuvenate". It's this great product that cleans away the gunk on wood and leaves it all polishy and beautiful. Case in point...she used this on her kitchen cabinets...which have seen about 25 years of some good cookin' and they look like brand new oak cabinets.

I believe this is exactly what my little gem needs...Lowe's here I come. I'll give you all an after picture when I'm done!

TTFN!

7 months...where did they go?

Kate is 7 months old today. I can hardly believe it! I was looking back at some pictures of her and it seems just like yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital.

She's becoming so active. Rolling over from both sides...talking up a storm...and getting much better about being on her stomach.

We love you Katie-Bug!

Sounds of the Season

Robb and I don't see many concerts these days...but there are a few that come thru town that we plunk down money and get a babysitter for the night. This year we are lucky enough to see three of our favorites!!

The first is the Elton John/Billy Joel, Face to Face Tour! I can't tell you how excited I am to see the two of them together.

We snagged a couple tickets to their May 14 show in St. Louis. Not only are we going to see one of my favorites (Elton John) and one of Robb's favorites (Billy Joel), but we get to hang out with two of our favorite people, Dan & Amy!! We can't wait!

The other show is.....wait for it.......

DAVE MATTHEWS BAND!!!
The boys are coming back to STL on June 17. We saw them last summer when they played at Busch Stadium...which was amazing. I was 8 months pregnant with Kate (she loved it!).

This summer they'll be back at Riverport....or Verizon Wireless Amphitheater...or whomever owns the naming rights this year. It's hard to believe I've been seeing this band for 10 years! And even after all this time, they keep getting better. Robb has seen two shows with me and I think I'm finally bringing him over to the "great light".

Now if only U2 would announce their 2009 Summer dates, we would have the trifecta of concerts this year!

Looking forward to sharing reviews!

They grow up so quick!

So how do we spend a Saturday....well let me tell you...it too exciting for words! This afternoon we took a little family jaunt to Babies R Us. Yep...we know how to party!

The trip was two-fold. Kate has officially grown out of her infant car seat. She weighs over 20 lbs. and is knocking on the door of 30 inches. So Katie-Bug was due for some new gear.

Since Robb and I don't like to play the car seat merry-go-round, we both have seats in our cars. So we gave Kate Luke's old seat and Luke got a new booster for Robb's car. New seats for everyone!

So a small fortune later the kiddos were outfitted in new seats.

Kate seems very happy about her roomier seat. (She's smiling at Luke by the way...if we need her to smile for a picture all we need is Robb or Luke to play with her!)

Luke was very excited about his new booster seat. He will happily tell you that he weighs 40 lbs. now and doesn't need a car seat anymore.

In the end it looks like we have two happy kiddos. (And no, Luke has never met a camera he didn't like!)

Ok...that's the first official post! Please come back and see us!!

Welcome to The Wilson Family Chronicles

Well...I'm finally jumping into the blogging pool. I enjoy reading so many of my friends blogs and other specialty blogs...so I thought, why not?!

I will admit it feels a little self-indulgent...but I hope the few that I start sharing this with will enjoy hearing updates about myself, Robb and the two most important people, Luke & Kate!! You know...those two adorable kids of mine. It's funny how once you have children no one rarely asks how you're doing...it's all about the kids!

So, this will be an opportunity to share what's going on with all four of us in St. Louie!

I hope you enjoy my ramblings...and I promise there will a few....I promise lots of quirkiness (I'm obsessed with Craig's List...oh the deals!)....plenty of baseball (Spring Training started last week! WooooHoooo!)...my desire to "remodel" our backyard this summer....and of course lots of updates about the kids!

Later!
